Here in this post we try to create a DIY Nathan Drake Costume for cosplay. Nathan Drake, one of the most iconic characters from the Uncharted Series on The Playstation. Developed by Naughty Dog, Nathan Drake made his explosive appearance on the play station in 2007 with the release of uncharted.
Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter and a professional thief, capturing the audience with his witty one-liners and his constant attraction to danger makes him a beloved fan favourite of the Playstation universe.
Core Costume Breakdown Links
DIRECT PRODUCT LINKS {Referral Links}
Since the first uncharted game, Nathan has had quite a few outfits. The Nathan Drake costume we will breakdown today will be from uncharted 3, the costume associated with the dessert.
This costume is my favourite as it is easy to put together and it looks pretty good. The links below are all that is needed to put this Nathan Drake costume together. The leather gun holster is the most expensive piece in this costume.
1. Scarf/Shemagh
The scarf Nathan drake uses is called a shemagh. A shemagh is a scarf native to the middle east. It offers protection against harsh conditions. It is primarily worn by the Saudi Arabians and Jordanians.
The shemagh Drake uses is blue and white in Uncarted 3. The scarfs can be bought fairly cheap on amazon. I have left links below to the scarfs I used.
2. White long sleeve t-shirt (white henley shirt)
The nearest match to the t-shirt he uses is a white henley t-shirt. The one he uses has long sleeves and has no collar.
Some of the long sleeve t-shirts I found were branded, which I didn’t like, but I managed to find a relativity cheap one {Men's Long-sleeve Henley Shirt} on Amazon that looks good.
3. shoulder holster
The shoulder gun holster is probably the most expensive piece in this costume if you want to stay authentic to the character.
I found a really good leather gun holster on Amazon, but the price might put some people off. If you are not worried about the price try and find similar second hand items here on eBay.
4. Bandolier (Ammo Strap)
The Bandolier is the ammo strap that goes across Drakes chest. It was used in the 1500’s by soldiers.
I think this is a must as it gives the costumes its authenticity, but the costume still looks fine without it.
The one reason you might not go with this piece {Kids Toy} because the price of Army Replicas on Amazon are not cheap. I found one {ammo strap} on Amazon. Surprising enough it looks amazing and would give the costume the wow factor in my opinion.
5. Brown Belt
For the belt, it is brown with no detail on it so it shouldn’t be hard to find one, you might have one around the house or a relative might have one as they are fairly common but if not I’ve found this one that will work just fine.
6. Nathan Drake's Horseshoe Belt buckle
The belt buckle used in the Nathan Drake outfit is gold with a horseshoe engraved on it. I found a perfect match right here.
7. Cargo Trousers
Most of Nathan Drakes costumes, he wears denim jeans but for this particular Nathan Drake DIY costume, he is wearing desert cargo trousers. Check out these Cargo Trousers that I found online.
8. Leather wrist Watch Cuff Bracelet
Nathan wears a watch that is engrossed in a leather cuff. There are a few of these watches here , but the one I’ve linked below is the best in my opinion.
9. Silver Watch
If you already have a watch then I would advise you to look at the leather wrist bracelet.
10. Necklace (ring)
I wouldn't spend a ton on simple accessories. If you have a simple silver ring lying around the house just attach a brown leather necklace to it. If you like to buy a ring necklace, otherwise you can try this one I found one here on Amazon.
11. Nathan Drakes Cosplay Gun
Face it... I know that Drake's Gun is the Para 9 and the AK 47. There tons of legal issues with replica guns so....
....For the gun, I’ve toned down the realism as I don’t want to people thinking it’s a real weapon. It all depends on where you are going, pubs, parties and nightclubs the less realism the better. For conventions, you can go for a more realistic weapon.
These gun is closest one I could find online here for the hand Gun and here for the AK 47.
12. Boots
For the boots, I went with some simple brown style work boots. These were very comfortable and suited the Nathan Drake costume very well.
Finishing Touches .... Hair And Rugged Stubble
Drakes Icon rugged looks which includes the contemporary male model hair style and stubble can complete the outfit. It's best to check out these YouTube tutorials to help in that department.
