The EarthBound character we will be focusing on today will be Ness cosplay. I will leave all the links to the items used to make this costume below, accompanied by information on the items as well.

Earthbound is a role-playing game for the NES and Game Boy Advanced. Developed by Ape inc. and Hal Laboratory in 1994. Earthbound follows the story of a young boy named Ness, who decides to investigate a meteor crash. He discovers an alien race known as Giygas who have cast a hatred spell over the planet, turning once harmless animals into terrifying creatures.

He and his friends, (who he meets on his journey) must travel the lands Collecting melodies to defeat the alien force Giygas. The game was received well by critics but was a commercial failure in America due to poor marketing strategy and low-quality graphics. Several years after the initial release the game spawn a hardcore follow who continue to support the franchise.

Ness red and blue hat

THS Retro Vintage Ness Style Snapback Cap (One Size, Red/Royal Blue)

For the Ness hat, I found a red and blue version on Amazon. It is made completely from acrylic. I will be honest I’m not a person who wears a lot of hats. I just wore this thence off for the Ness cosplay.

It looks pretty much exactly like the hat Ness wears. It was comfortable to wear for the 4 hours I had it on. The price is very good as well. Overall a good hat, perfect for the Ness costume.

Ness Cosplay striped t-shirt

I found it quite difficult to find the blue and yellow striped t-shirt he wears, especially from a reputable source. After a few hours searching I found one on Etsy I was happy with.

The shirt is a polo style which I didn’t like but it was the best I could find. I also didn’t like the branding at the front. As for comfort, I was quite happy with. The price was very good as well. Overall a good quality t-shirt that did the job for the Ness costume.

Blue Shorts
Blue Shorts

For the Ness shorts, I found on Amazon. These are made from cotton and sport and elasticised waistband and drawstring. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy for the shorts, I just wanted something very simple for the Ness costume. They were pretty good for the price and fitted well for the most part. Overall a good pair of navy short that are simple, comfortable and very affordable.

Baseball Bat {Ness Weapon}
Ness Baseball Bat

Ness’s weapon of choice is the baseball bat, for this, I also got on Amazon. I don’t know much about baseball bats so I picked the cheapest with the highest review rating and I was only using this for the costume.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with the quality, it has some nice weight to it. I also like it because it has not designed or print on it for the most part as a lot the bats I saw were multi coloured with branding all over the bat.

Shoes
red and white shoes

To complete the look of the Ness cosplay, I went with a pair of red and white shoes. I went for some Vans inspired shoes made by Levi’s. I have to say these were fantastic, very comfortable and very well made. I plan on using these over the summer for casual wear. I highly recommend these shoes and they looked great with the Ness cosplay.
